Kokolo Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

It is sweetly expressed on the nose displaying dark cherry, plum, vanilla and mixed spice characters. The palate is succulent and rounded, and offers excellent fruit weight and intensity, beautifully framed by polished tannins. Wonderfully balanced and integrated with generous fruit flavours, this is highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2019. 93 points. 5 stars

Dark, deep ruby-red colour with slight purple hues. Lighter edged. This has an up-front, but concentrated and intense nose with aromas of ripe dark red cherries and raspberries along with soft herb nuances and a suggestion of spice. The primary fruit aromatics are prevalent. Medium-bodied, bright and sweetly rich and lusciously juicy flavours of dark red berry fruits and raspberry liqueur fill the palate, unfolding dark red florals and subtle dark herb nuances. The fruit is supported by fine-gained, supple tannins and moderate extraction, with integrated acidity. The sweet fruitiness is the feature and carries to a lingering, juicy, raspberry nuanced finish. This is a bright and juicy, up-front, dark raspberry-fruited Pinot Noir with fine and supple extraction. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 4-5 years. Clones 777, 667, 115, 5, 114, 375 and 10/5 from the ‘Kokolo’ vineyard at Charteris Bay, fully destemmed and indigenous yeast fermentation initiated to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new oak. 18.0/20. 4 stars
