Hello from the Whistling Buoy team

Whistling Buoy named champion wine of the show

At the Wines of Canterbury annual awards dinner in June 2017, Whistling Buoy was awarded the Champion Wine of the Show trophy, for its stunning Kokolo Vineyard pinot noir 2015.

The wine was a gold medal winner in the pinot noir category and won the trophy for the best match with game.

New stockists

An increasing number of outlets nationwide are stocking Whistling Buoy wines, with the funky new eatery A Mouse Called Bean in the food collective development The Little High Eatery in Christchurch being one of the latest.

Eight restaurants are part of the collective, but A Mouse Called Bean is the one to pick for Whistling Buoy’s award-winning wine.

Other new stockists are: New World supermarkets in Fendalton, Lincoln and St Martins, The Gondola, The Old Vicarage, Glengarry Wines (Auckland), Meenan Wines and Spirits Ltd (Dunedin), and Regional Wines and Spirits (Wellington).
2017 Half Acre pinot noir vintage
The 2017 Whistling Buoy Half Acre pinot noir vintage is now in barrel. While this year’s vintage was challenging in some parts of the country, the Half Acre vineyard, on Banks Peninsula, dodged the inclement – and very wet – weather and produced some great fruit. The winemaking team consider it some of the best pinot fruit they have seen. Fingers crossed it will produce another gold medal wine.
